For 4 years he taught chemistry, physics, and biology at a small rural high school, gaining the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. During this time his first 2 children were born.
He left education for the business world, managing the eastern quadrant of United Telephone of Indiana. He received a thorough grounding in customer service, supervision, and innovation. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine, graduating in 1993. During this time his 3rd child was born.
Fort Wayne Medical Education, an excellent stand-alone primary care residency (1993 to 1996), thoroughly grounded him in his chosen field of Family Practice. His twins were born during his intern year.
Moving back to his home town of Warsaw, IN, he spent 25 years developing a very large family practice. His last 2 children were born and 5 of his grandchildren as well.
In 2017 he discovered the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and by 2019 he was board certified. In 2021 he moved to Florida to help the Advent system develop a Lifestyle department and then retired in September of 2023 from full time practice. He joined his good friend, David Blakemore, at SteriLogix that same year as their medical director, allowing him to combine his education, business, and medical backgrounds.
